Problems Encountered During WordPress 2.3 Upgrade
Date: Saturday October 6, 2007Posted in: Blogging

I have been very careful on WordPress 2.3 upgrade, i read every instructions in details…
Still, i missed out one simple step, is my own mistake…i forgotten to deactivate Plugins.
I suspect this was the only step that i missed out during my upgrade and caused my wp_categories database table to disappear.

I got this error in my side bar where i place my categories. Luckily i have a backup copy of my database before upgrade and i manually execute the SQL statement to create the missing table and insert back all the data from my backup file. Again, luckily it works after my manual SQL execution.
My mistake not to deactivate all Plugin also caused my Sitemap generator plugin failed with some error on missing tables as well. I use the same method to restore back the missing table and upgraded this plugin to a latest version.
This is my second experiences on upgrading WordPress since version 2.2. For those who are not yet upgrade your wordpress, remember to make a backup copy of your database and deactivate ALL your plugin. Do not make the same mistake as me…:-)
