I did some research on backlinks and I will do a round up of what I understand, list down what am i going to do increase my site’s popularity. I will seperate this into few parts as it will be easier for me to concentrate for one things at a time.

For those who are not familiar with backlinks and why backlinks are so important to bloggers (especially if your are serious on make money online), here are some of the explanation, backlinks are important to determine your Google PageRank, it will helps you greatly in PayPerPost, SponsoredReview and ReviewMe as they will based on your Google PR as one of the main criteria on your review price. Backlinks typically are number of links that pointed or directed your websites or blogs. It reflects your site popularity. In SEO ( Searh Engine Optimization), number of good quality backlink will directly affect your PR. Good quality backlinks or inbound links means that you get links from website that is relevant to your site’s content. Backlinks from irrelevant websites or blogs are not encouraged as it serves no purpose. My case for example, my site is talking about my journey in make money online and technology related stuff, it’s irrelevant for me to have reciprocal links with a websites or blogs talks about in Games. It will only meaningful and have a GOOD quality if I get backlinks for blogs site that involved with make money online and technology related stuff.

Submit to list of directories
I have been doing this since i launch this blog, the main purpose is to get links that helps to increase page rank. So directories required a small amount of money for you to be listed, if you have budget constraint as i am, you may try to submit to free directories, you may refer to this Giant List of Blog Directories provided by SponsoredReviews. You may tried out FreeWebSubmission as well where it helps you to submit your site to some search engine for free. Some of this directories may require a reciprocal links in order for you to submit your URL. I didn’t understand the terms reciprocal links as well when I first starts my blogs. What does it means be reciprocal links? Reciprocal links simply means that link exchange when you place a link to my site; I place a link to your site in returns.   

Backlink Builder Tools 
I found a usefull tool called Backlink Bulider Tools which will search for relevant themes with your website and willing to add link to your website. It really helps in earlier stage of building good quality backlinks from related sites.

Link Exchange
If you do some search from the internet on backlinks, you will find that some of the professional bloggers will not encourage with link exchange program as they are more focus on content where user will automatically link to your website. But I found that it’s really useful for this kind of program especially for website in start up or with less traffic (like this site), as after I participated in the VitalTag program initialized by FounderCafe, incoming links have increase tremendously and my Technorati Authority has growth from 2 to 109 (as of 16th Jun 2007) in less then two week times.

Submitted Articles
This will be the most effective ways to get quality backlinks to your site. I’m still on my way on this method…

Comments in others blog
This is to bring awareness of your blogs, and it stands a changes for others to link to your blog if your content is good. It’s always recommended to blog with own domain ff you are serious in blogging. Costs for hosting own domain may vary from less then USD50 to hundreds USD depands on your requirement on space and bandwith. As a starter like me, you may consider GoDaddy where I hosted this blog, I get started with my own domain and hosting in less then USD 50 for one year. You must believe that you will definitely earn this back in the next few months. The main reason for this is you will have total control to all the plugin in our blog which is really important for a blog suggest in my opinion. With your own domain, you will be able to install you own wordpress plugin like Top Commentators plugin which definitely encourgage more people to comment in your blog.  

Review Blogs
I will starts a session. You will get a link in return from some high quality blogs site including a PR6 site from JohnChow. For a list of sites which do review in exchange, your may refer to blogs site that do review trading.
